Aluminum Frame
Mahaffey Fabric Structures uses aluminum when designing structures
because it is the optimal material for structures that are portable,
easily relocatable, and quickly installed. The manufacturing
process begins with the extrusion of our proprietary shapes using
aluminum alloy 6063. The aluminum extrusions are then
strengthened, first by heat-treating them for one hour at 970°F, and
then by aging them 8 hours at 350°F. The end product has a T6
temper that is ideal for architectural applications such as our portable
structures.
When we receive the aluminum, we cut, drill and mill it according to
the design specifications. After the machine work is completed, it
is anodized - the process where the aluminum surface is protected and
hardened. It is then sent through our final assembly process,
inspected, and shipped.
